Life is full of people that help shape and mold you into the person you become. Maybe it's a parent, grandparent, teacher, or maybe even a friend. For me at least, it's my older sister, Amber Oertel. Amber has been with me as long as I can remember, granted she would have rather had mom and dad bring home a puppy instead of me, I still like to think she still likes me. She has been with me through some of the greatest losses in both of our lives, she has also been the source of some of my greatest adventures, but most of all, she has been an important role model in my life. In 2008 I remember being called to the office of the Orange City Elementary school. I was terrified that I had gotten in trouble, especially when I saw my dad sitting in the office, but amber was with him. why would she be with him? I asked myself. Earlier …show more content…
when growing up we struggle to find that person to look up to. for me at least, I often looked up to my sister. We went to the same daycare/babysitter place when we were kids and I remember that none of the older kids could pick on me because Amber was "his" older sister. And she was the oldest kid. I made sure I didn't tick her off while we were there. When we were at home during the summer I loved to bake things with her, yeah it was because I wanted to lick the spoon but also because I was able to do it with her! My best childhood friend was because of her. She went to go play with the neighbor down the street and I just had to go along too because I wanted to have a new friend just like her. I tried coffee because I wanted to be like her, I got my job at Fareway because I wanted to be like her. It's like that kids book with the little hedgehog looking thing, the book is just called Me too! when I read the book as a kid, I always thought "wow his little sister is really annoying" but then I realized I was the little sister of the story, trying ever so hard to be like my big

One person has always had the power to make a difference in another’s life. Whether that be a family member teaching a little one kindness, or even on a bigger scale Martin Luther King Jr. leading a revolution to the acceptance of people with different colored skin. Even bad people can make a change for the good, like a school shooter who makes schools realize they need a plan in place for an attack on their students. One person can change the way others think entirely and can impact their lives in a major way. Lori Ann Heyden, my grandmother, had made a huge impact in my life.…
