Throughout the world many people find themselves in times of distress, whether they are lost in the jungle, or they are simply starving in the midst of a small town. Thousands of people may find themselves striving to survive no matter the consequences. When you are trying your best to stay in this world, then you will do anything, and I mean anything, to keep on living until the next day. People have accomplished outrageous things while striving to survive such as drinking your own urine, amputating one’s arm, and even devouring human remains.

For this reason, you have to be ready to do anything to survive. Aron Ralston, a mountain climber, was faced with this insane choice as he spent 172 hours trapped in a deserted section of Utah with his wrist being crushed by a boulder. With no one to aide in the boulders removal he was faced with the impossible decision that he had to get out of there one way of another. For this reason, various people will have to sacrifice something in times of distress whether your pride, hope, or even eating habits. Survivors of a plane crash in a deserted section of the Andes Mountains found themselves in this situation. They were stranded in the middle of nowhere with no significant resources. Many of the original 45 passengers passed away as they faced dangerous conditions such as avalanches. The remaining 14 survivors then took it upon themselves to discover a way to survive. It was here that they would have to swallow their disgust and devour the remains of the dead passengers. They were faced with the struggle of surviving on only the remains of the dead for 72 treacherous days.
As you can see, people will do anything to survive. It doesn’t matter if they are drinking urine, amputating body parts, or devouring remains. Humans will always find a way to survive as it is in our genetics. One should never lose hope if stranded because where there is a will there is a way.
