Drag: air resistance that slows and object down. Drag is an opposing force of motion.
Gravity: a force that pulls objects together, and the reason things on Earth fall down instead of up.
Weight: (the gravitational force) the force of gravity pulling an object down.
Lift: the force that pushes object upwards.
Aerodynamics: the way air moves around things. Aerodynamic design can either speed up or slow down the speed of air moving around an object.
Thrust: the force that moves an aircraft through the air. Thrust is used to overcome drag and is often generated by engines.
Airfoil: the shape of a wing that helps generate lift.

Problem: how does the angle of trajectory effect the horizontal distance of a bottle rocket Background research: When an object is in the air and has no forces acting on it other than gravity it becomes a projectile. (Henderson, 1996) Gravity causes the projectile to accelerate toward the ground in a uniform arc like a rainbow does. this shape is known by scientists and mathematicians as a parabola, and objects that fly in the shape of a parabola are said to be in parabolic motion.…

Air hockey is a fun, mindless activity for everyone to play but do you really know the complex science behind it? Air hockey involves concepts from Newton’s three laws of motion. The science behind air hockey is all based off of Newton’s laws. The air hockey table allows the puck to glide easily and certain forces are required to move the puck, stop the puck, and accelerate the puck. Also, for every force applied on the puck, there is always an equal and opposite reaction.…

From TV shows to textbooks, I have heard about the importance of air resistance ad nauseam. Mythbusters taught me about how air resistance prevents pennies dropped from the Empire State Building in New York from killing innocent people. My textbook taught me about the importance of drag in preventing Felix Baumgartner from reaching speeds that would physically break him. However, throughout my entire physics career, air resistance was never included in projectile motion. The concept of resistance was explained, such as friction and the many other types of resistance, but there was only a brief overview.…

    Rocket Trajectory

Trajectory and applied force both have very much too do with our rocket lab. Trajectory affects how far the rocket will get beacuse trajectory is a curved path of an object that has been fired or thrown through the air. This affects the rocket beacuse the angle of the rocket that is launched at is part of trajectory and the rocket was launched off of an angled platform so this affetced how high the rocket went before coming down. Another part of trajectory is how gravity affects the objects path of fight this is seen in the lab when the rocket loses all accelaration it stats to slow down then gravity brings the rocket down. This affects the lab beacuse if we where on a diffrent planet the gavity would be less and then it would fly further beacuse gravity is not pulling towards the earth.…

Women had started fighting for gender equalities way before the term “feminism” was listed in the Oxford English Dictionary in 1852. They spoke up and proved their abilities to the world by marching and rebelling. The first-wave of feminism started from the 18th century, and it was mainly focused on the voting and property rights for females. The Second-Wave feminism began in the 1960s, and the focus shifted from suffrage to issues such as workplace, reproductive rights, and domestic violence.…

World War 2 revolutionized aviation immensely, all countries dedicated a large amount of their funds and time to produce the best planes they could possibly produce for the war. It was established that very early in the war that airplanes would play a critical role. Airframes, avionics, the use of turboprop and jet engines were all introduced during the war. This war caused a huge push towards modern aviation today, and started a golden age for airplanes, which occurred in the 1950’s.…
