Second Alternative The second opportunity listed in regards to Amazon’s SWOT analysis was an increased emphasis on online advertising. In regards to this opportunity, a strategic objective I would recommend would be to; expand social media network content. This could be done on websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Yahoo.
Costs
Some of the costs associated with increasing social media network content from an HR point of view could include the hiring of employees familiar with marketing this content, or training current employees to becoming effective in using this content to Amazon’s benefit. If Amazon is not comfortable hiring or using its own employees, then there are the increased costs of outsourcing. “Launching a new Twitter account, complete with setup and outsourcing content creation/consumer interaction (all 140 characters at a time), costs an average of $2,000-$4,000 per month – and that's just for Twitter” (The Content Factory, n.d., para. 4). Knowing your audience can also help an organization such as Amazon to better develop their strategy; or target those demographics not captured. Another great benefit of launching a social media campaign is that you can receive instant feedback. As illustrated by Cisnero (2014), social media can provide an organization with valuable insights on the customer perspective (para. 5).
