On 1994 in the month of May, 30-year-old Jeff Bezos was sitting in his office in Manhattan with his underdeveloped internet when he found a prodigious statistic; “The internet was growing at a rate of 2,300% a year. This is when he had his “Eureka!” moment and researched business opportunities in the field. Bezos knowledge for technology came from his degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University. He researched mail-order companies figuring it would do great online. Narrowing it down to the top 20, he then investigated ways to create value in customers. That is what fundamentally led to books; years later branched out to clothes, electronics, video games and became the current Amazon that we all know and love. …show more content…
Amazon has declared that they will take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself to the company during a time of unprecedented technological revolutions. The mission and vision of Amazon.com is: "Our vision is to be earth's most customer-centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online." With this vision, Jeff Bezos has exceled in many ways and was rewarded “Time magazine's Person of the Year in 1999.” Amazon.com was nominated for many awards, but one award caught my eye. The NRF's "Retailer of the Year" Award. The acceptance speech that came with the award shows that Jeff Bezos is a humble man. The speech was broken down into a few categories: Work ethic, Accolades, Employee compensation, Evolution of the company, and Down-to earth. After he gave the speech, he left the stage without the award and had to be reminded to take it. He did this not to disrespect, but to show us that his work does not need
