Andrew (Andy) was an amazing person. I met him when I was younger; he is my best friend’s older brother. He of course would pick on us and be mean, that is to be expected from older brothers, but there was always something special about him. As years went on our families became really close and still are to this day. I fell in love with Andy and in turn he fell in love with me. Being young and in love for the first time was the best thing. He was the absolute sweetest boyfriend I had ever had.We had been friends since I was 10 and we had dated for over a year. He was the best first love anyone could have asked for. Sadly we did break up and he and I went our own ways. Though our families were close I didn 't see or hear from him very much. …show more content…

The LGBTQ+ youth are also at an increased risk to show signs of suicidal thoughts, actions, and behaviors. LGBTQ+ youth also report higher rates of bullying than heterosexual youth (“LGBT Youth”). Even after the deed has been done, some place the fault on the victim. Do people blame the victims of a murder for getting murdered? Is it not true that people are the cause for most suicides? If we were to persecute for bullying and unfair treatment in the same way we do for murders and rape, then would the suicide rate drop? So many questions could never be answered all at once. Will we, as humans, ever be able to accept the differences in each other? This is a question that many people should ponder and ask themselves. If we could learn to love one another , then the world would be a much better place to live

This source is extremely relevant to my topic as I will be using the research from the study for enhance my own story so that it can be viewed from a greater perspective. The data from this source that I have seen has stunned me. I knew that LGBTQ+ face a lot of hardship in the public school setting, but after seeing just how the percentage of these individuals that were assaulted with a weapon or threatened jumped from 12% to 28% (“LGBT Youth”), I can honestly say that I am horrified by these numbers but this isn’t the worst of the data, in a National Climate Survey conducted by Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, 82% of LGBT youth have had problems during the previous year with bullying about their sexual orientation, 64% felt unsafe at school due to sexual orientation, 44% felt unsafe at school due to gender orientation, and 32% did not go to school for at least one day because of feeling unsafe.
