Amazing! One can hardly find another word to describe the incredible transformation that occurred in the life of John Newton. Newton was born in London in 1725 His mother died when he was seven years old. Father gave him to learn seamanship when Newton was eleven. At the beginning of Newton was a cabin boy, then became deckhand. Naturally, the boy ran to the ship's way of life, rich blasphemy, drunkenness, immoral behavior. Newton without hesitation entered this vicious circle. Soon he surpassed all his contemporaries in the scandalous behavior. In the circle of his usual entertainment included writing derogatory songs, full of sarcasm and ridicule, against his command, whom he openly showed disrespect. He also loved to invent new oaths and

John cried out to God for mercy, but suddenly he was stopped by the thought of how little he deserves God's mercy. How could he turn to God now, when to ignore it for so long? John spent a painful night, overestimating their values. The next morning, the storm subsided. Miraculously, what was left of the ship safely to harbor. On this day, John Newton was convinced that there is a God who hears and answers prayers. He re-discovered God's love expressed in the Bible: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world might be saved through Him "(John, chapter 3, verses 16-17).
In the midst of the storm, Newton received his sight. He realized that he is a sinner who needs a Savior. For the first time he realized the importance of God's grace. Repent of their sins, he gave his life in God's hands. In no time, he became a new man.
