“Knox confessed that she was in the house on the night of the murder and that she heard Miss Kercher scream”(Squires 1.) She was tried and acquitted twice, and then there was a movie made about her. Amanda Knox was accused for violently murdering her roommate in Italy in 2007. After years of being tried and acquitted, Amanda was finally released, and is now living freely with no charge. In the 2007 controversial court case of Amanda Knox, the innocent verdict incorrectly acquitted the suspect because of convincing evidence, lack of mourning, and an unreliable alibi. Prosecutors found evidence that pointed to Amanda Knox’s involvement in the murder of Meredith Kercher. Now Knox and her boyfriend were believed to be involved in this case. …show more content…
Knox confessed to committing the crime and admitted involvement. Knox signed a confession saying that she had returned to her apartment on the night of November 1, 2007, and had been standing in the next room while Lumumba stabbed Kercher to death ( Editors 1.) This is key because she admitted to it all. After denying to killing her roommate, she said she was involved and Sollecito also went behind her back and told the police that she was involved. Sollecito admitted to Knox being involved as well. ”Finally, Sollecito admitted that Knox could have left his apartment at night while he was sleeping. When this information was presented to Knox, she broke down” ( Editors 1.) This is important because he had just turned his back on someone who he deeply cherished. Instead of protecting her, he went against her. After several trials police found Rudy Guede who they thought was guilty of the crime. Rudy Guede requested a fast trial In October 2008, he was found guilty of the murder and sexual assault of Meredith Kercher, he got 30 years in prison ( Editors 1.) Knox was relieved, and so was Sollecito after hearing this news. This was unfortunate, because there was a lot of evidence leading to the two. Knox got away without any charges once they believed that Rudy had murdered
