Have you ever seen a movie where the new girl walks into a new high school and doesn’t know what to expect? Particularly, that happened to my classmate, Alyssa Sarino. Alyssa is a sixteen year old new junior attending Rancho Mirage High School. Her quiet looking appearance might fool people because she has a bright persona in her.
Alyssa grew up in Banning, California and lived there all of her life until this summer. Her family and herself moved to Cathedral City with her uncle and aunt. “My parents just randomly decided to move.” Banning has cooler weather than the desert, but Alyssa would rather prefer the desert’s heat. “Cloudy weather makes me feel depressed.” Specifically, she would like to move to Florida one day because of it’s warm weather and ocean. Alyssa’s favorite childhood memory was going to Disneyland at the age of five. Being a big food lover, Alyssa likes going to eat to various places. Specifically, Olive Garden for their famous fettuccine alfredo pasta with parmesan cheese. If she would have the chance to see any artist in concert, she would see Rihanna. “I’ve never been to a concert. I think they’re too loud and I have sensitive hearing.” Her favorite thing about herself is that she’s a really easy going person because it makes it easy for everyone.
Overall, Alyssa isn’t really the typical girly girl chasing boys in high school. While most teenagers love blasting their loud music, Alyssa prefers her music as low as possible. Returning to a public school after being home schooled for two years could be challenging, but Alyssa is doing the best that she can.
