I worked exceedingly hard and got all my assignments in. I vowed to myself that I would never get a B in Tech again and that I would get above a 99 in the second marking period. In the second marking period when we had any type of test or quiz I would study for it regularly even if it was a typing test and I knew I would get a hundred on it. In the second marking period I ended up with a 99.52 to end the marking period. This just proves if you’re touch and you never give up you can accomplish a lot of goals in life. This also relates to me because when I was very young I had dyslexia. I didn’t want this though from stopping me from reaching my full potential. When I was very young I kept reading and reading and never gave on me trying to beat it. Even the doctors said that it would be very hard to get over it. Everyday I came home and read book after book after book and every time I went to the doctors if they thought I almost completely gotten over it. Finally after a lot of effort a determination I finally really got over it in

The theme for my storyboard for the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman was about helping out in the community that you are in. I picked this theme because in Seedfolks all of the characters put in effort to help make the garden a better place. All of the characters had something against someone but they get involved in the garden because the either notice how the garden community were kind and helpful or they were forced to go by someone who thinks the garden will help their problems. The Character Sae Young is the main character in my storyboard. Sae Young worked in a laundromat, but one day at work a man came in with a gun under his coat and beat up Sae Young and she passed out because he kicked her really hard.…

My teenage experience has been fun, yet definitely challenging! After turning thirteen years old , on January 3rd, 2013, I immediately got the feeling of becoming a teenager or a sense of growing up. The was a unique feeling as now people refer to me as a teenager rather than a twelve year old. The transition from a twelve year old to a thirteen year old teen wasn't a very smooth transition since now people around me expected much more and had higher standards of me. A transition from middle school to junior middle school was certainly a very challenging transition.…

The word dyslexia was first used by Rudolf Berlin of Stuttgart, Germany, in 1887 to describe the inability to read. In 1905 W.E. Burner published the first report of childhood reading difficulties in the U.S..…

At 5 years old my twin brother started showing the signs of having dyslexia. It is important that social workers consider their own beliefs about dyslexia as they work with so-called “dyslexic” clients, and it would behoove researchers to do so as well. We make commitments to our clients, and we need to honor those commitments with respect for their individuality. Interventions can only be effective if we have a sound basis of knowledge on which to formulate our intervention strategies for those unique clients. In this way, we can assist them in finding learning techniques that foster both literacy and self-esteem in their lives. Otherwise, we are simply holding on to an outdated “us” against “them” education paradigm, where there exists a “gold standard” that discriminately isolates some and rewards others.…

For example the quote “You see ,even though am 17 and a junior in high school, I can’t read because I have dyslexia”. In this quote it shows that David is admitting that he has dyslexia and that he can’t read at all he is reading at a fourth grade level when he is a junior in high school. This is embarrassing to him because everyone makes fun of him because he can’t read little words so mostly all students or peers make fun of him because he is not able to read and he can’t speak as good. Some teachers are hard on him because they don’t know he has dyslexia and teachers or…
