The self-less interest, of putting others before yourself. This may also mean putting yourself at risk to help another person. This act comes from kindness and purity. With no thoughts of anything in return. But often things can be mistaken for true altruism, or may be motivated by something else. Sometimes we tend to do things for others but may be motivated for our own self-interest. This term is when you do an act for someone else that you can benefit from. Self-interest is not altruism because when doing so you begin to think of yourself. You think about the beneficial factors of helping someone or perhaps doing something to gain something in return. True altruism only places the well-being or the thought of others before the self. We all would like to think that everyone’s actions are with superb intentions, but that may not be the truth at every occasion. For example, if your job as a nurse requires you to have experience before you can obtain the job, several people would freely volunteer for their own benefit in the long run. Empathy-altruism is the opposite of doing something while expecting something back. Empathy-altruism means that you do things without thinking. It is about having so much empathy for someone that you can’t help but ask for your help in any way or form. People who are interested in their well-being won’t help save someone from a fire or a pool. If someone feels empathy towards someone it is more than likely that they are going to try their best to help you out in any situation. Empathy-altruism usually kicks in when a person starts to have images of the person being helpless without them. People who care for others in an unselfish way, will feel guilty if someone were to become hurt while they were present. This reduces stress from the individual reassuring them that it will all be fine since they did their part on that
