Alton Brown: Chef, Author, and TV Star

Chefs are known nationwide and some even worldwide. Some own huge, fancy restaurants where in order to have a chance of getting in, you need to make reservations weeks in advance. Others are better known for their books and TV appearances. Either way, chefs can leave great legacies and be remembered decades after they have passed. Alton Brown began a journey that would lead him to becoming a chef, an author, and a reality TV star.
Alton Brown was born on July 30, 1962 in Los Angeles, California. When he was seven, he and his family moved to Georgia where he spent the rest of his childhood. Brown learned to cook by watching his mother and grandmother while they prepared food. Before becoming a chef, he studied film in the University of Georgia. Brown wanted to start his own cooking show so he moved to Montpelier, Vermont. There, he went to the New England Culinary Institute and trained. This was the beginning of his culinary career.
Brown started by writing his first book. It was titled, Good Eats: The Early Years. Based on the book, Brown got his own TV show called Good Eats. In 1999, Brown made it on to Food Network and his show became one of the most successful shows. Besides being popular to the audience, his show also earned a Peabody Award and a James Beard Award. Brown is the author of many other books and even some bestselling cookbooks.
Alton Brown has had many accomplishments. He has his own TV show on Food Network, a renowned television network, he has become a bestselling book author, and he has been a great chef who is known internationally.
