Althea Gibson was born August 25, 1927 in South Carolina and later died on Sept 28, 2003 from respiratory failure. She was married and divorce twice with no children. She was an American Tennis Player. Gibson attended Florida A & M University, the school that I’m planning on transferring to. She was the first African American player to play in Wimbledon in 1951 and the first African American woman to win the Wimbledon in 1957. Also she was the first black person to win the Grand Slam title back in 1956. Gibson was not only a tennis player but she was also a golfer. From 1971, 74, 83, and 1984 she was on five different Hall Of Fames: National Law Tennis, International Tennis, Black Athletes, South Carolina and Florida Sorts. Althea was honored
