Methods such as Electronic monitoring designed for non-violent felonies and misdemeanor domestic situations, Day reporting, in which subjects are placed on work release status and receive one day off their sentence for every eight hours worked, and Alcohol monitoring is attached to the offender’s ankle monitoring the subject on probation where alcohol was a contributing factor to the crime committed (Alternative sentencing and Pretrial Services. (2014). Another alternative sentencing program that seems to be developing and meeting with some success is the “Restorative Justice program”. This program enables the interaction between
the individual convicted of the crime, the victim and community members through programs setup to provide restitution to the victim and the community that were damaged by the individual convicted. The program is centered around the aspect that the convicted individual show genuine remorse through actions that are directed to the premise of making the victim whole ("Restorative Justice," 2016). The trend of the courts, and the criminal justice system is moving toward an alternative system of sentencing, that in my opinion has a chance to make a change and reduce the rate of recidivism and level of incarceration across the country, but only time will
