Is Jay Gatsby really dead? What they didn’t tell you in the book was the night that Jay Gatsby was buried it turned out to be a one of those nights where it felt just a little spooky. The shadows pulled long faces at the moon and the black trees looked as if they were touching the sky. Every movement in the quiet forest by the cemetery was a yell in the silence. Johnny and his friends were playing in woods by the cemetery and heard a bell ringing. Being curious the boys went to investigate the sound. They peered out of the trees to the side of the cemetery. What they saw were graves and grave markers looking as eerie as ever in the moonlight. What drew their attention to the new grave none of them ever knew but as they watched the boys saw …show more content…
What they see shocks the living daylights out of them. They see that the grave has been disturbed. Where the bell had been there was now a hand and footprints. The protocol in this situation is to immediately exhume the body. With much effort Maurice and Paul dig out the casket. Now with the caskett sitting on top of the ground they realize that box to light but in their adrenaline fueled stated didn’t realize it till then.
“ I’m going to get a crowbar.” calls Maurice behind his shoulder as he lumbers back to his shed….

Two years later at the Buchanan residence.

Daisy and Tom had just came back from visiting Gatsby’s grave and Daisy is getting ready for supper, thinking back to the good times that she and Gatsby shared. She begins to weep, missing her one true love. Just two short years he was right beside her. She never realized how much she loved him until he was gone. These thoughts however are quickly scattered when she hears Tom yelling.

“You lazy good for nothing hound dog, how long have you been my servant? 10 years? What have I given you.. Everything, then you go and steal from me. Get out of here! I repeat you’re out.

    Daisy carelessly destroyed Gatsby’s dream by rejecting him, but to her it was not even of great consequence, as she just ends up back with Tom, still “safe and proud” with her money and class. When Tom reveals all of the shady ways Gatsby has acquired his money, Daisy turns away from Gatsby because she no longer feels that he can provide her with the security she has had all of her life: “with every word she was drawing further and further into herself, so that he gave up, and only the dead dream fought on as the afternoon slipped away, trying to touch what was no longer tangible, struggling unhappily, undespairingly, toward that lost voice across the room” (134).
