Then he reached out with his hand and pressed a spot on top of the shelf, impossible to anyone else to find unless they were deliberately searching for it. There was an audible click and the shelf swung open, disturbingly silent for such a heavy piece of furniture. Winston looked on in astonishment O’Brien said “Here is the place where the real fighter hide, here is the entrance to the Enclave”. The two then walked into the secret corridor, the shelf swinging shut behind them. Then a series of lights turned, showing a long narrow corridor leading to what looked like an elevator. They walked down the hallway to the elevator, when O’Brien placed his hand on a pad right next to the door. “State your name and occupation please,” said a robotic voice from nowhere. O’Brien responded, “O’Brien, member of the Inner Party and Council member of the Enclave”. The doors then slid open, and Winston and O’Brien stepped inside. As the doors closed shut, O’Brien turned to Winston and said “what you are about to see once these doors open you must never tell a living soul about this, except the fellow members of the Enclave. If you do then you and everyone you have hold have to be executed, for we cannot afford the knowledge that the Enclave exists to fall into any one’s hands but our own”. Winston nodded his head in
