Throughout my childhood, I have always looked up to those who have been part of an elite organization, such as National Honor Society. When I received the application I was proud that my determination had paid off and I was now eligible to join National Honor Society. Before I moved to Miles I was part of the National Junior Honor Society, it was an inspiring occurrence that led me to become more involved in my community. I have also been involved with my Future Business Leaders of America chapter and am the president of the club. Being so helps me give to the community and school by starting fundraisers for the March of Dimes, running cereal drives for the food pantry, and donating time to other organizations. In the past few years, I’ve volunteered with a variety of organizations from National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club. Through student council I have worked closely with my teachers and advisors to better my school by bringing our student body together for events such as pep rallies and competitive games during homecoming week. I have also made great friendships with peers outside of my usual classrooms which has helped shape me into a well rounded person. With National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, we have bettered our community through projects such as a can food drive and buying Christmas gifts for children in need. I devoted myself to being a key part of the interact club. I participated in events such as volunteering in local soup kitchens, Spicket River cleanup, earth day and helping to pick up trash around the city of Lawrence. After I saw what a difference I could make by just simply helping my community through the school, I decided to do some community service on my own.
