Alpha Pi Alpha Student Character Analysis

An individual’s character cultivates from personal experiences, failures and life circumstances. Tested through time and still holding true, learning through mistakes remains the valuable way to learn. I personally could begin by saying, this is a story of an addict who ultimately got herself together after 16 years of addiction, except that is not what defines me. Overcoming addiction is a small part of my history, nonetheless it has a place. Moving forward, today at 45, I am a wife, mother, grandmother and a student. Life has had some curves, at the age of 5, my youngest daughter was officially diagnosed with autism. We were told that she would never read or write. She remained non-verbal till the age of 6, once her voice was found she has proven them wrong time and time again, and recently she received an award for making the A/B honor roll. That little girl has a determined spirit, and it was her willpower and pure heart, she has been the reason I have kept going and not gave up. In the role of a student, I have excelled, even though it has been challenging at times. Therefore, I am proud to say that I am a member of PTK honor society and I serve as the VP of Scholarships for our chapter Alpha Pi Alpha. GTCC, has …show more content…
What tore me down has become my passion; what depleted my spirit has become my aspiration. I find empowerment in helping others, it would be selfish and self-defeating not to pay forward what was given to me 14 years ago. I am living proof that there is life after addiction. Giving back keeps me grounded, being able to help others find their purpose in life has helped me find my own sense of purpose, which is something I would not trade for anything. Without question, the growth and developing into a better person has been my greatest educational endeavor above
