To the members of the Gamma Eta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi,
The pledge process for Alpha Kappa Psi has been a rollercoaster of emotions from the stress of learning thirteen verbatim quizzes to the excitement of Big-Little Reveal. Still, despite the stress, frustration, and long nights, I would not have changed anything. While difficult to understand completely from the outside, the pledge process impacts each pledge’s life individually and positively. I see this clearly as I prepare to cross the finish line of the ten weeks. I look forward to membership, and how I can use my talents combined with the skills developed throughout the pledge process to benefit Alpha Kappa Psi.
For a freshman, I believe I entered the pledge process with decent professional skills, yet I still see vast improvements. Of course, I have gained greater communication skills through the seventy-two plus interviews and emailing my alumni big and faculty members. The election

First and foremost, is my incredible family who is my greatest inspiration in life. I know the pledge process was difficult for them as well, not seeing me as much, but they were by far my biggest supporters. The same goes for my friends. Next, I would like to thank all of membership for their kindness, openness, and commitment to the values of the fraternity. I look forward to getting to know each member better. Thank-you to Natalie Gaynier for being a great master of rituals and being so helpful when making up quizzes. I am beyond grateful to Lindsey Shepherd and Patrick Northcraft, Vice Presidents of Membership. I appreciate them giving their time and resources for the success of the pledge class. Finally, Thank-you to my amazing big, Morgan Siegler, and twin, Sierah Shaffer-Joughin, for being my support system. Without them I am not sure if the pledge process would have been as smooth and enjoyable as it

Peer Leader: All of the leaders I chose to interview helped me to develop my personal leadership philosophy through their actions and influence on me. I chose to interview Jacob Wagner as my peer leader because he has served as great mentor and friend throughout my years in college. His enthusiastic and good-natured personality are qualities of his that I always admired, and I have had the opportunity to see them in practice in the many leadership roles he has participated in. His guidance in my college career has helped me grow as a person making him an obvious choice as my peer leader to interview. Without his guidance I would probably still be in an unpleasant rooming situation, and I would be in a vastly different place than I am now.…

To have one of the top colleges relatively close to home is also a contributing factor. A few of my talents and skills were described above, but in addition I possess great leadership. I am currently the FFA president, STEM Club President, and Church youth group president. I also serve on the community Prosper committee that enhances positive youth development and strengthen families of which I am the only high school member, which shows my value of being a positive role model to other students. My work ethic and past experiences will make me a successful ISU student.…

Letter of Intent: First of all, I would like to say thank you to every member on the 2015-2016 E-board for the hard work and dedication you put into the association. Reflecting back on this year, we were able to perform at a level that other student’s organizations only hope to and for that I can say that I am proud to have served with all of you. My goal since the first day that I set foot on Temple’s campus has been to be the most competitive Pre-PT student that I could be. The adjustment from high school to college is a tough one for most but thanks to the TPPTA’s guidance, I was able to live up to the expectations I set for myself. I took all of the advice from pervious E-board members and our guest speakers and used it to sharpen…
