This past year our chapter had the most honorable opportunity of initiating a new member class into our beloved sisterhood. In Fall 2012, Alpha Kappa Alpha’s executive team was comprised of 90% seniors and elections are held in November, annually. According to our constitution in order to be eligible for an executive position you must have at least one remaining year at the University of Florida. That meant for us, that all of the newly elected executive team was comprised of new members besides our President and Social Chair. This was one of the toughest times for our sorority to endure.     The Kathryn “Kathie” Horslund Beeken Beta Zeta Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the benefactor nearly 30 years before her passing. Kathie created this scholarship as a tribute to her deep appreciation and love for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity and its ideals.
