The objectives were clear, beginning with recalling facts, then synthesizing information with real-life experiences, and finally completing a visual representation of their own Rainbow fish. During the reading, comprehension and reflective questions were asked to gauge understanding both the text and how it relates to their lives. Construction paper, markers, crayons, and cut aluminum foil were placed on the table for students to share. A precut fish was given to each student to decorate as they wanted. While sitting at the table, students were asked questions about the importance of sharing how they would react if they were in the situation as the Rainbow fish. Crafting the Rainbow fish allows the students to have a visual representation of the benefits of sharing, and the completion of this activity is directly related to the learning objectives for this lesson.
