To start, on August 6,1960 "Julia Alvarez and her family moved to New York City, exiled due to the tyranny of Trujillo."Alvarez's family left the Dominican Republic."Since Alvarez's father participated in the underground plot which was cracked by the SIM,Trujillo's famous secreat police" other members were captured and started giving out the names of other members including Alvarez father and the only ways for Alvarezs family to survive was moving to the United States. Four months after the Alvarez family moved to New York City, "the three Mirabals sisters who also participated in the underground were murdered on a mountain road." The three sister went to visit their husbands in jail and that same day they were killed. Only one of the sister which her name is Dede who didn't follow her sisters steps survived that day. In addition Alvarez was influence by the "accident" of the Mirabals sisters and she was inspired as a young girl to write of the sisters.As Alvarez went to trips back again to the Dominican Republic she search which ever information she could …show more content…
Even though Alvarez never met the real sisters she felt the need to write this story since her life was a little similar to the sisters since her father also participated on the underground plot and all the struggles her family and she past.As Alvarez said she was amaze by the courage of the Mirabals sister. Through this writing Alvaraz "changed dates,reconstruct events, and collapsing characters or incidents". Alvarez also related herself in many ways to the Mirabals sister in her imagination for instance Alvarez father had to immagrate with the family to the United States to survive since he was member of the underground plot likewise the Mirabals father who also was member of the
