Not everyone experienced equivalent lifestyles growing up as children. Some were exceptional and others lonesome. After analyzing the poem “Alone” by Edgar Allen Poe I conceived the theme to be one’s childhood can pessimistically effect their entire perspective of life. In lines 20-22 it states, “And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view.”, which facilitated my analysis. Normally, an ordinary person would perceive the form of a cloud to be either a dragon, fairy or something that commences their imagination positively. After the author examines the cloud, he portrays it to be a demon, something that’s demonic and nefarious. This is due to his forlorn childhood and deficiency in intimacy. Being isolated from others can lead to a deranged soul. Those souls then develop an irredeemable spiritual disease which can lead to one living a life of bitterness and misery. The word “demon” is extremely significant in this poem. In lines 20-22 the author states, “And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view.”, persuaded my inference that the “demon” symbolisms what the author perceives himself to be. In Lines 17-18 it says, “From the lightning in the sky As it passed me flying by”, generating a imagine of darkness. My imagination gives aid to my brain with polishing the image of a boldly darkened sky and creepy glass windows with no blinds where the author arranged himself. The windows are flooding with water and the house is tarnished. Surrounded by large trees and lack of civilization, he intensely watches the sky thunder flashes repeatedly causing ferocious sounds. Any average person would be startled by the storm lurid booms of thunder but he is intrigued not moving a muscles. Being and witnessing darkness is his element and somethings that completes
