Most of these characters share the same exact traits, and face the problems. I, myself have faced some of the problems that have been categorized, and so have you. Are these problems what shape a good leader at the worst of times? Or is this all just coincidence? Here we will be looking at three categories; person vs. person, person vs. self, and person vs. nature. We are comparing three characters from three completely different stories, and seeing how they all act alike.

Shackleton was the captain of the ship and he, just like Alma, faced some of those categories. Person vs. person. Shackleton had a crew member decide that he was not going to continue with them and help pull the boats. His name was McNeish. Although McNeish was a stowaway, Shackleton made him a part of the ship family. When McNeish rebelled, Shackleton kept his cool and told him how it was. He did not yell or demand anything once. By doing this, Shackleton gained more and more respect from his men. He was either going to come with them, or get killed. Person vs. self is one that was driven by fear. Before they had left for the Antarctic, WWI was just starting. His homeland was going to war and Shackleton had volunteered his ship up for the navy if needed, here he demonstrated patriotism. Shackleton did not know if his crew was going to survive. He did not even know if he was going to survive. Although he was always scared for his life, he never decided to show it. He demonstrated his leadership skilled and kept everyone in line and calm. Shackleton was extremely confident in his ability to keep his crew safe and taken care of. The trip to South Georgia Island was the part where it was person vs. nature. The reason for this is because they had to face freezing water, a bottleneck, and a crazy storm. Shackleton did not give up and was willing to take risks to get his men back to safety and civilization. Once again, Shackleton kept calm and did not worry, so the crew would not see. He demonstrated his leadership skills and brought his men back to

The Crucibles “Abigail Williams” Abigail Williams takes a mayor part in The Crucibles as her character is driven down to be the main antagonist of the plot. Abigail’s character would be noted as the least complex, compared to the rest of the characters in the play. She is clearly driven by revenge towards anyone that stands on her path to fame. Much like her uncle, Mr. Parris, minister of the Salem church, a very peculiar man, compared to any other man in the town if Salem.…
