No matter how many times one reads a piece of literature, one will have a different perspective of any writing in comparison to other readers and the author themself. To get an enhanced understanding of the book 419, I noted Will Ferguson’s perspectives of his novel and his motives for writing the novel by watching his interview with Steve Paikin. I know truly appreciate not only the quality, but the quantity of the work and planning Ferguson put into this project. As solely a reader of the novel, we fail to acknowledge the author’s reasons for specific character details and plotlines. After watching his interview, readers understand his motives behind certain choices he made to enhance the authenticity of the novel.…

At the end of every chapter in the novel Page After Page, by Heather Sellers, there are little exercises/practices sets up that the reader can do. These exercises are a way for the author, make the reader to interact with the book, and effectively learn how to become a better writer. The way that they are set up is short, simple and sweet; and does not require extra brainpower. For example, at the end of chapter fourteen Sellers asks the reader to just sit at the computer and write for fifteen minutes, ignoring every grammar and spelling rule.…

Being matched is one of the major steps in becoming an adult and Cassia couldn't of been more thrilled when she was matched with her life long best friend Xander. The only problem is she starts to develop deep feelings for someone else.…

Throughout Allie Condie’s novel, Matched, the prominent theme is the perceived perfection that the Society offers through its rules and restrictions. The Society has implemented a rigorous governing design where individual freedom’s and decisions are non-existent. The goal of the autocratic design is not to provide citizens with the optimal health and happiness as promised, rather it is to control, manipulate, and condition citizens to conform to the Society’s way. This idea is demonstrated through the numerous references to artifacts that belong to some of the residents of Oria. Their symbolism not only aids in revealing the Society’s underlying motives but also demonstrates how the artifacts bring a sense of security and comfort to their…

So far we’re through chapter 5 and we’ve learned about a couple characters so far who seem like they will be predominant throughout the book. Those characters are Bernard, The Director, and Lenina. We start the book to more of an indirect characterization of The Director when he is walking the college students through a tour of the D.H.C. Through this tour we can learn about how The Director is so very proud of his work and how he even may see himself like a god in a way. The extract from Anna Comnena’s ‘Alexiad’ is a valuable piece of primary evidence when studying the First Crusade, giving a thorough account of events from the Eastern Christian perspective. However, it can be argued that despite its detail, the passage may depict an inaccurate narrative of events. This is due to its adulation of Alexius and disparagement of the Franks. This suggests an underlying purpose to glorify the emperor. Therefore, the source is useful in discerning how the conquest was portrayed from the perspective of those from the Byzantine empire.…
