On the island the boys create a adult like situation for themselves. The create a governance and start to form rules. As a reader, we are able to see the change between the beginning of the book, where the boys exercise a democracy, and at the end of the book when the boys have no recollection of rules and civilization. When the boys first land on the island they were “...conditioned by a civilization…”(Golding, 65) to be proper and civilized. They are british school boys, so they are taught to behave and show respect. As the book continues we can see the change where, “The world, the understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.”(Golding, 98) and the boys were becoming more roughty and savage like. Causing the boys to develop internal conflicts between the separate groups. This shows us how “...irresponsible authority.”(Golding, 176) can adapt the way we view others. In the final chapter, the boys come full circle and go back to old habits when an adult arrives. The conflict caused the boys to separate and change their thinking and behaviour. The boys “ ‘... were together at first then-’ ”(Golding, 224) ,the deaths and the fear got the better of them and they began to turn on eachother. The navy officer was disappointed that “ ‘...a pack of British boys-...-would have been able to put up a better show…’”(Golding, 224) During World War II many countries, races and religions were involved. Hitler discriminating the jews, caused a worldwide dislike for the followers of that religion. They were isolated and thought of as less. People around the globe were given false information and facts about them. This lead to a international conflict between Good and Evil.
