Today cell phones have become a digital necessity in our everyday lives. Nearly eighty percent of American teenagers have cell phones, and many students take them to school every day. Allowing students to have access to their cellphones in school has been a continuous debate for years. Although cellphones can cause distractions to students from learning, it can also be beneficial with its digital learning tools and the easy portable access of its size. Cell Phones should not be banned because it allows students in school to use it as a learning tool with access to educational applications, communication with teachers, and in case of an emergency.
Students are often required to conduct research for their assignments in school and while some students do not have access to a laptop, they can use the same features on their cellphones. Cell Phones have become a great and effective learning tool for students because

As local school boards and districts have a hard time keeping up with the financial demands which technology brings. We can all agree that technology is expensive, but allowing students to bring their own smartphones or device to school is a solution to this problem. Leonard Tillerman is a former teacher and principal who has been a writer for the past two decades, wrote an article called “Should Cellphones Be Allowed in School?” on soapboxie.com, share his opinions on this debate. Tillerman expresses that many school districts do encourage this solution already and it is known as B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Device). Tillerman’s response is “It would save an incredible amount of money for educational districts as the school would not have to provide the expensive devices for students” (Tillerman, “Should Cellphones Be Allowed in School?”).
