Should Cell Phones be allowed in School?
Some think that cell phones should be allowed in school, while others think it should not be allowed. Cell phones can be used to cheat on tests, and also can be a very distracting to most students. Also couldn’t parents just communicate with the kid through the office? However, if I had to choose, I think that cell phones should be allowed in school for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, parents have a sense of anxiety and need a method to communicate easily and immediately. Additionally, cell phones could replace many objects needed for school’s such as dictionaries, calculator, and computers which will help the school to save money. For example, Andrew’s dad is worried that Andrew forgot to turn in his argument essay assignment that is worth 40 points, with the phone Andrew’s father can text Andrew to remind him. Parents always have a concern for their kid, whether it is about their homework or just if they are doing good. Also, just if they can get to school, most parents have to go to work earlier before the kids and if the kid misses the bus, they can call their parents before or after school. Maybe they just forgot their lunch and could ask a parent or relative at home to pick it up. Secondly, another practical reason would be that the phone can replace many classroom objects such as computers, dictionaries, and calculators for math. Many different phone apps are able to help the students grasp difficult subjects such as science. Furthermore, students with dyslexia a disease which is a general term for disorders that involve difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but that does not affect general intelligence and can help these students visually.
