Allowed In School

Did you know that 92% of U.S. Teens go online daily. Of this group, 24% stated they are online constantly, while 56% stated they are online several times a day. If kids are on their cell phones this much , should they be allowed to use them in school? Students should be allowed to use cell phones in the classroom. One reason students should be allowed to use cell phones is because of the school and personal emergencies. In the beginning of my 8th grade school year, the students had to evacuate the school. None of the kids knew what was happening. We had no way of contacting our parents. My mom did not know what was happening until twenty minutes after we evacuated the school. She was very upset she did not have a way to contact me.

Many schools across the U.S are very strict on their ‘No phones in the classroom “ rule yet many students still sneak in their devices. Most parents and administrators think that the students use their phones in an inappropriate way but it is proven that more then 50% of students use them advisably. With that being said,I strongly disagree with your belief on cell phones. Cell phones have become an essential tool of life and communication with children being the majority…

I believe that students should be allowed to have a cellphone fat certain times of the day for their own personal use. I feel if kids had their phones with them at school it could help them stay safe in multiple situations and could help them communicate with their family if they don't have an other methods to do so. In certain situations having a phone nearby for your use could be quite useful, in situations like lockdowns and such because of a hurricane, earthquake, etc. you could use the phone to communicate with your parents and inform them about what happened and tell them that you're okay and you could also use it to call for help in case of an emergency.…

I think phones should be allowed in school, we may not have to be on them all the time but we should at least be able to have them incase we need to call someone or if we have free time in a class we could play games, listen to music, or use google, dictionary.com, and an example of is our history book is online and at school sometimes there’s not enough chromebooks or Ipads. Mobile devices are kind of like a drug that children, teens, and young adults can’t seem to put down and that’s not always a good thing. The reason this isn’t always a good thing is because some kids don’t go outside and play, hang out with friends or know how the real world works, most kids would rather play video games and be in a virtual world. The kids that are so addicted to electronics end up nowhere because they don’t know how to deal with real people in life. In article #1 it says “ Lets turn this into a learning device and maybe eventually teens will see it more than just a device for entertainment.”…

School systems have changed drastically throughout the United States. One of the main causes for this change is due to the tragedy that took place on April 20, 1999. Columbine High School students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered 12 students and one teacher and injured 21 additional students. The highly planned and intricate attack involved a fire bomb to divert firefighters, propane tanks converted to bombs placed in the cafeteria, 99 explosive devices, and car bombs. The pair eventually took their own lives once they completed their task.…

In Tom Vilsack’s article, Should Candy and Soda be Banned from Schools? , he argues that banning unhealthy snacks and drinks would be helpful in abolishing nation’s childhood obesity epidemic. Mr. Vilsack states, in America, the food children are eating in school is half the calories they should be consuming and that can lead to diabetes at a young age and can carry on with diseases when they get older, therefore i agree on banning candy and soda. Children as said, can get diabetes if they do not watch what they eat, in this case, they will eat if the food the school serves taste good even if they do not know what exactly it is. At a young age, it is easier to get diabetes without healthy choices and be overweight.…
