Allison's Doubt: A Short Story

A suitcase thumped heavily onto the sidewalk, followed by a duffle bag, and a large shoulder bag. Allison thanked the taxi driver one last time before he sped off, and she turned to look at the place that would now be her new home. She began her slow and difficult walk to the front door.
Doubt had filled Allison's mind, for what seemed to be the hundredth time that day. She had lost all of her creativity and drive at her old place, yes, but surely there would have been some other way for her to deal with the block. It was too late now though, as she stepped up onto the porch, finger hovering above the doorbell.
Allison didn't even know who she would be living with, other than a very brief description of him before she got on her flight. His
