ASSIGNMENT 2 1. List the scientific and common names of 2 different species of crocodilians, and produce a series of 10 bullet points below the name, listing interesting and important facts that relate to each of those species.
Species 1 - American Alligator, Mississippi Alligator, Pike-headed alligator, "gator" (Alligator mississippiensis) (Britton 2009a)

1. Alligator mississippiensis of the order Crocodylia and the family Alligatoridae.
2. It is classified a “threatened” species on the US Federal List, despite being listed as ‘lowest risk/of least concern’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species as at 1996 (IUCN 1996a). This is policy decision made because it is similar in appearance to Crocodylus Acutus …show more content…
Write a 300-600 word essay describing all aspects of the biology of one type of either reptile or amphibian, as investigated in your set task.
The Frilled Lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii) is so called because of the large frill around its neck, which is usually it is folded against its body. The frill is typically yellow and red in colour, and, when ‘up’, makes Chlamydosaurus kingii look larger, more attractive to potential mates and may deter predators, using an approach common to many creatures, such as the puffer fish.
Chlamydosaurus kingii is usually about 85cm in length and while its body colours vary depending on location (for camouflage purposes), its body is always darker than the frill (Savage n.d.). Chlamydosaurus kingii has a long neck to accommodate the frill (Australian Frill Neck Info n.d.), and one outcome of a longer neck is a change in centre of gravity. Thus, when Chlamydosaurus kingii accelerates to a run, its change of centre of gravity is lower and causes it to rise up onto its back legs (NewsRX Health & Science 2008). It also has a long, whip-like tail which can be used to balance out the bodyweight when on hind
