A philosopher by the name of Lawrence M.Kraus once said “The purpose of education is not to validate ignorance, but to overcome it”. Education is essential to living a happy and sustainable life. To get to the point of education, one must go through several obstacles and hardships along the way. However, when people face these obstacles or reality, they give up. A person acquires education when they overcome the obstacles life gives them , once a person overcomes these hardships, a person has proven that they are now mature enough to handle reality and knowledge.
In Plato’s, “Allegory Of The Cave”, Plato illustrates his point of view on education. Plato believes that in order to have real knowledge, we must gain it through philosophical reasoning (Trumpeter 2012). This is exactly the reason why people do not complete their education because reality is too much for them and they decide to take an easier route. Plato’s “The Allegory Of The Cave” is an analogy that illustrates the different stages of education . The freed prisoner had to confront struggles, but was able to acquire education. Meanwhile, the other prisoners remained naive and uneducated. At one point we are like the chained prisoners, ignorant,but we need to be aware of this ignorance and overcome it. This being said, a person should not simply give up when complications cross their way. One must develop courage to look at reality straight in the eye and overcome all of the conflicts and struggles of the education process to gain knowledge and
