All the President’s Men is a 1976 political motion picture directed by Alan J. Pakula. William Goldman wrote the screenplay for the film that is based on the 1974 book written by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward that is also named All the President’s Men (Perkins). In addition, the authors are the two journalists that handled the investigation of the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post. The film stars Robert Redford as Bob Woodward and Dustin Hoffman as Carl Bernstein. All the President’s Men has been nominated 21 times and has received 16 awards. The film won four Oscars in 1977 for the following categories: best actor in a supporting role, best writing, and screenplay based on material from another medium, best art direction-set decoration and finally for best sound. Pakula charms to viewers through the complexity of exceptional acting, phenomenal setting, and impressive cinematography.
A few minutes into the film the Washington D.C., police department captures five men who broke into the National Democratic Party headquarters in the Watergate building. Since the story needed covering The Washington Post assigns Woodward to the story. After Woodward notices that the five men who are mainly Cuban immigrants are being represented by reputable lawyers he realizes there could be a bigger story behind the small break-in. The editor of The Washington Post then assigns Bernstein to the story. Now both journalists have to collaborate on investigating. Later Woodward gets in…
