All Summer In A Day Symbolism

“All Summer in a Day”, by Ray Bradbury, contains a lot of symbolism, which at first glance, can slip right over a reader's heads. Most of the time the weather in the story symbolizes how the kids in the story are feeling, whether it's clouds and rain to represent sadness, or, the sun and the sky to demonstrate happiness. There are also some objects and scripts in the story that tell a lot about how the students are acting and feeling.

Bradbury does a great job introducing the reader to the story, possibly for this reason. However, it can also be said the the biggest piece of author's craft in the story, is Bradbury’s ability to right in some similes and some repetition, which admittedly he does, but not to the extent of All Summer in a day’s symbolism. For instance, When the reader reads sentences like, “the sun is a lemon, a great bright lemon”,or when one reads “the sun is so valuable that it's like a coin big enough to buy the world.”. This is probably the best piece of symbolism in the story and is also the easiest to note out. This just proves that Ray Bradbury addis in more symbolism in his story that any thing else, to show author's craft and to be unique.

“All Summer in a day” describes the lives of children living on venus, where the sun comes out every seven years. The author Ray Bradbury does a fabulous job of incorporating some strong, and minor symbolism in the short story. Though it can be said that he uses other forms of author’s craft, Ray chose to incorporate symbolism into almost every paragraph of his story.
