The Great American eclipse and the appearance of the sun in “All Summer in a Day” were both alike in many ways. The two events were greatly anticipated rarities. In the movie, Margot was very enthusiastic for the visit of the sun as were many people about the eclipse. The reason both events were anticipated was due to the fact that both events had not happened in many years. Both of the audiences prepared for such rarities but in different ways. The children in the movie put on visors and sunscreen while some of the people preparing for the eclipse purchased solar eclipse glasses or created their own solar eclipse viewing devices. “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction short story. Bradbury included a one of a kind setting, superior characterization, and an ending that allowed readers to create their own, using their imagination. The setting was unique and I would have never thought of an imaginable place like Venus. Margot is a shy and frail young girl and we notice this when Bradbury describes that she is an “old photograph” and talks like a “ghost.” Over the years, good short stories and novels have been transitioned into movie adaptation.…

Many theories have been proposed on what exactly would take place post nuclear war via multiple works of fiction. Stories like "There Will Come Soft Rains" and even games such as the Fallout series present their own ideas on what the world will be like after it has been engulfed in nuclear fire. These representations are all incredibly interesting and provocative. However, in the story, "Searching for Summer," readers are presented with a world where most have given up hope. Interestingly enough, the story does not go for the "rugged waist-land" stereotype, but instead introduces its readers subtly to the moral and ethical issues that have amassed over the years due nuclear fallout.…

Evidence for this can be found in the text and Ray Bradbury uses a lot of metaphors and similes to describe this. “About how like a lemon it was, and how hot.” This shows the children showing happiness and hope rather than a gloomy or depressing emotion. The sun is the only symbol of hope and happiness that the children have. And that’s what Bradbury is using to craft the story All Summer in a Day.…

This is a strong argument to have and believe in, but let's prove how this is surely not the case, and how these kids are secretly jealous of Margot. “Margot stood apart from them, from these children who could ever remember a time when there wasn't rain and rain and rain. They were all nine years old, and if there was a day, seven years ago, when the sun came out for an hour and showed its face to the stunned world, they could not recall.” this quote proclaims the fact that the other kids separate themselves from Margot because they cannot recall a time when they have seen the sun, but on the other hand Margot can remember it and nonetheless describe it vividly. “I think the sun is a flower, That blooms for just one hour.…
