All-Star cheerleading should be considered a sport. Cheerleading is one of the most physically demanding activities that's not considered a sport, but should be. All-Star is a combination of dance, gymnastics, and motions. All-Star cheer is highly competitive. All-Star cheerleading requires participants to be physically fit. Cheerleading requires the strength similar to a football player because you will have to use your upper body strength for stunting. All-Star also requires endurance because there is fast-paced non-stop movement for two minutes and thirty seconds. Endurance is also needed for the dance portion of the routine because there are numerous movements in a short time period. The jumps part of the routine causes for leg muscles because the person will be constantly using their legs to push themselves as high as they can. …show more content…
There are multiple types of cheerleading that have several purposes and emphasize on different elements of cheer. Sideline cheerleaders main purpose is to keep the crowd full of energy and chant cheers to motivate the athletes. All-Star cheerleaders main purpose is to compete against other teams. They compete by performing a high energy two minute and thirty second routine that is composed of jumps,motions, tumbling, dance, and stunts. All-Star cheer is more focused on competing against other gyms.All-Star has competitions that are regional, national and even worldwide. Competitions can last for up to two days and be as short as about seven hours. All-Star cheerleading falls under the definition of a sport. There are rules and regulations that have to be followed. There are judges that judge different aspects of the routine at each competition. All-Star has more physical involvement than some sports like golf and bowling. A worldwide competition called Worlds is televised on ESPN. There are certain guidelines for the cheer
