No person should be required to serve in the military. In America today, people are not required to serve. With our current way of doing recruiting soldiers ,the military is working properly. If we force people to serve, those people will lose some of their freedom. Furthermore, there is no honor in serving if it is not a choice.

The military should only be altered if the alteration is an improvement. By forcing people to serve, the military will have workers who do not want to work. Workers who do not like the work that they do,work poorly. I used to push buggies at Wal-Mart. I never worked as hard as I could have because I did not want to work there. However, when I worked as a cashier, work was excellent. I made employee of the month multiple times. When employees enjoy their work, they put more effort into the work that they do. If people are forced to work for the military, they will not work hard because they do not want to work there.

Forcing people to serve in the military will also cost people some of their freedom. People won't consent to giving up their freedoms, however small, unless they feel that they have gained something of equal value in

The compensation would have to be something that other employers do not offer them. If it is not so, then they will have lost one of their freedoms and gained nothing of value in return. It will also affect the quality of work that they do. A work that is forced into a job that he doesn't like and at the cost of a freedom, which he is not well compensated for, will not feel obligated to do the kind of work that his employer expects. Furthermore, the country's regard for their military would be the same as its regard for people who pay their taxes. They would be glad that they are following the law but would not consider it on par with the soldier who joins the military out of a desire to serve his

As Debs quotes "They have always taught and trained you to believe it to be your patriotic duty to go to war" meaning the government has taught one as a child to serve your country. As you go along in school one develops this mentality that as a citizen of this country one has to fulfill duties that will help the country like fighting in wars. For example, since the start of school a person is required to pledge allegiance to the flag. Students would get in trouble if they were to refuse pledging to the flag. Similar to the draft if one were to resist it, then they would not be for filling their so call duties as a citizen of the United States.…

It is financially unstable, cannot be justified as a moral situations to put civilian in, and it could possibly make the army worse because of some of the untrained and unskilled soldier’s. It should be about the quality of soldier’s not the quantity. That is why I am again this idea of mandatory national service and I hope that this puts these ideas into perspective. In conclusion, more experienced fighters should be fighting not kids who have just gotten into or out of college who have no experience, even if there is a national emergency, there are plenty of willing soldier’s to fighter. If they are willing and consent then they can participate in the national service.…

The Draft has been present in American history since the 1940’s when men were drafted during both periods of peacetime and periods of conflict in order to fill the vacancies within the United States Armed Forces that could not be filled through voluntary means. And though the draft was ended when the United States Armed Forces transitioned to an all-volunteer military force the possibility of the US bringing conscription back is overwhelmingly high. Although, it may be possible that in critical conditions social conscription could be beneficial towards the health of a nation, the lack of moral conquest is overwhelming, therefore the draft should not be reinstated for it takes away the freedom of individuals in the ‘land of the free’. The…

And what is conscription if not the involuntary servitude of the citizens of Australia. Ultimately, the issue of required military service revolves around the idea of freedom. Since some are persuaded that free individuals can't be trusted to make what they claim to be “the best decision”, they accept that they must be compelled to make the “best decision”. What they neglect to perceive is that in compelling individuals to make the “best decision”, they devastate the very freedom they claim to need to ensure. They successfully obliterate freedom to secure freedom.…

Men and women who volunteer to fight for the autonomy of America are a very diligent, select few, they deserve the utmost respect and honor for the charitable acts that they do.
