I have never been one to back down from a fight, since I was young I have learned to fight strong, fight mad, and fight dirty. Such is the way when you live in the less fortunate areas of Zrenjanin, Serbia. Unfortunately, the adage of “might makes right” inevitably leads to making some enemies, and other than my own demons, my enemies revolve around Viktor Kirov, whom I have clashed with on multiple occasions. Neither of us have proven stronger, with each of us always coming away nursing various wounds and grudges. “You wouldn’t want to leave your little friend behind would you?”. I turn and see Viktor’s henchmen dragging someone out onto the path. They have Kael. I may be incredibly violent, but I am just as loyal, and other than my Papa, Kael is the only person who’s genuinely shown care for me, even though he’s only a year older than myself. “Not going to help, Edrik?” Viktor is loving this, he feels in control, like I can’t beat him. I place the book gently on the sidewalk and leave my coat on top of it. “Boys, we have a challenger!” God I wish he would shut up already. But I know he’s trying to make me angry, so I choose to ignore it, and calmly walk towards him. Unfortunately, other than Kael and Papa, Viktor knows me better than anyone, he knows that I’m trying to stay calm, and he won’t have that. So lands a kick squarely onto Kael’s thin chest, and I’m fairly certain I heard ribs crack under the pressure. Kael doubles over, while I bellow mightily and lunge for Viktor’s hulking mass. As I reach him, I throw a wild right hook at his jaw, which he easily blocks. I attempt to follow through with a fist to his stomach, but he sees it coming and blocks that as well.
