All I Want Is You Analysis

Everyone needs to be loved, but in order to have a true intimate relationship, one must learn to set boundaries. To reach that level, one needs to express love, support and understanding. In the song “All I Want Is You” by Barry Louis Polisar, the lyrics brilliantly demonstrate the relation between the 3 main characters, Juno, Mark, and Vanessa, in Diablo Cody’s “Juno”.

To begin with, the relationship between Mark and Vanessa is not only tense but also paradoxical of the lyrics in the song. Firstly, Barry Louis Polisar pleads, “If i were a flower growing wild and free, All I’d want is you to be my sweet honeybee.” Opposing this quote, Mark is not free due to vanessa’s lack of awareness and understanding. He feels trapped and would rather be a rockstar. Secondly, according to the song, “Take me by the hand and stand by my side”, Mark would be expected to stay by Vanessa’s side when he is most needed. But instead, Mark decides to leave Vanessa in search of his own childhood dream. At last, the poet states, “If you were a castle, I’d be your moat, and if you were an ocean, I’d learn to float”, Meaning, one would be willing to do anything to learn to float in the ocean. In Barry Louis Polisar’s “All i want is you” it is stated, “Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea”, which represents Mark and Juno’s compact dance. Another example is, “If you were a castle, I’d be your moat”. This illustrates Mark feeling at ease and at home when he is with Juno. Mark pleads, “ Nope, we are safe” during a time with Juno without the presence of Vanessa, showing beyond doubt, his senses of being safe with Juno. The bonding between Mark and Juno might have not been the foremost idea, triggering the separation of Mark and

Songs are poems set to music. They come in all different varieties, genres and styles but often the message conveyed is similar. In modern music the message or theme usually relates to love or substance abuse. A few decades ago, the messages were comparable, and even though society was quite different then, the themes in music were relatively the same. Two such examples are “Come a Little Bit Closer” by Jay and the Americans and “A Woman Needs Love” by Ray Parker Jr. Both of these songs share a common idea of women cheating.…

When Malcom X said “By Any Means Necessary” I think he meant that for human to treat each other right. Or that people have their rights to be equal on this earth and for a human being to be respected and treated as a human being and not an animal. For human to be given the rights they are born with, to me he was speaking for the African Americans at the time for all the racism and discrimination. Malcom’s goal to me was for him to try for everyone to have complete freedom, justice, and equality but comparing his comments to the concept of praxis is in comparison by doing anything necessary to correct unjust or unfit conditions, politically, economically, socially, physically, or just anything that was just necessary.…

One thing that stuck out from this article was in the Teaching section. The author explained that students learn best in “chunks” of 7-10 minutes. After a short explanation of a concept, allow students to perform a processing activity to apply this new knowledge. Repeat this process until the full lesson has been taught, and then a longer activity would be permissible. I can see how this would be useful with my 7th grade…

Emily Dickinson is well known for her unusual poems, however during her life she wasn’t famous till after she passed away when her family started to find 1000’s of her poems stuff in tiny spaces all around the house. Dickinson’s writing wasn’t well understood during her time, she had a uniqueness that was ahead of her time; she had an amazing use of symbols, capitalism, themes and tones in her writing which make reading her poems so intriguing. While growing up she wasn’t the average women, she had her own thoughts and beliefs which is something I love about her which brings me to one of my favorite poems by her: “I’m Nobody!
