About Me

I head out the front doors of my house and it's only 6 a.m. By 7, I have ran a mile and jumped up and down countless stairs. Consider this the summary of my summer. I constantly find my schedule jam packed with various sport practices, team bonding events, or private lessons to improve my game. Whether I'm diving on the floor over and over again to get a perfect pass for volleyball, or running my 8th set of lines to improve my stamina for basketball, my day constantly consists of sports.

Although, I rarely find free time, every Monday night stays the same, yet completely different. I participate in a Christian youth group called Younglife. We get together every Monday at 7:27 to enjoy each others company, countless games and skits, and the presence of the Lord. Over the summer, I got to spend a week at Washington Family Ranch-Canyon with 800 other high school aged kids from all over Washington and Oregon doing things like zip lining, go carting, rope courses ands myriad of other activities, all while loving the Lord and furthering my relationship with Him. Then, I got invited to return to camp two

I always have an endless flow of love and support coming from my family. Since I started playing basketball in the 4th grade, I've played on 9 different teams and hundreds and hundreds of games, but my Grandma Sue made just about everyone. The only time she would allow herself to miss a game was if she was going to one of my brother’s games. After playing on 6 volleyball teams that travel anywhere from just down the road to the east side of the state, she hasn't missed one game. Her showing up isn't even the best part, after every game she tells me how I did. Without sugar coating it the slightest bit. Sometimes I get the “Oh Dani! You did so great!” or I might get the “that was rocky. You guys need to pick it up,” speech. No matter what she says, it's always exactly what I want to

I have had various experiences in the last two years, but the one I feel is the most significant is the time I spent volunteering for the Detroit Mission Trip. This opportunity presented itself in June of 2014 through my church, Metro South Church. I spent one week, Monday through Friday, each day-all day, commuting from my home in Brownstown to the inner city of Detroit. Each day of this mission trip consisted of various volunteer jobs. I was one of approximately 100 people that engaged in the process of making life better for others.…

As a child, I was raised amongst an athletic family where sports were always a priority within our household. For about half of the season I would play half of the JV game and play half of the varsity game as well as practice with both teams. Ironically I wasn’t officially just on the varsity squad until the day my grandmother died. It was ironic because my grandmother had died in the morning, but my mom wanted me to go to school since we had a game that day so she didn’t tell me until I got home from school. I was getting on the bus to play our biggest rival when my coach told me I wouldn’t be playing with the JV team that night or the rest of the season. It was the worst day of my life and here I am finally playing in…
