Alike Movie Analysis

The short film titled “Alike” by Daniel Martínez Lara & Rafa Cano Méndez, is a quick prologue or view into, the ever changing values of a young boy, and his father. Struggling between work and developing his sons comprehension of the world, and how things may seem different or bright for his son, but is a stark contrast between his father who is in the chain or working machine of work itself. That his son sees a ‘violinist’ in the park while his father and himself are walking, he notices how bright, vibrant and different he is compared to his father and the normal chain of others like him. His father is reminded of his obligation towards his work, including how he has no time or ability to become something different or creative, that he is stuck in a bleak and stark world forces to compose his time only into efforts towards work, that doing something he may like or being different may only be a risk he cannot afford. …show more content…
Slowly in class he is corrected by his drawings, instead of writing and practicing grammar and literacy he draws but has his paper taken away every time, being forced to abide by a rule or educational system that doesn’t allow creative freedom. That slowly his son starts to sync to the level his father is at, being forced to change his values practice and get his english homework done, instead of creating and dreaming. This shows the increasingly narrow system our educational systems are pushing our youth, that we remain absent to the condescending future, instead of promoting values that would push to elevate and improve our society, we punish and force ourselves to follow a system in which we have no control of which neglects our own human
