The setting for the Southeast Team is the Tampa General Hospital (TGH) located in Tampa, Florida. This large urban acute care center boasts three-time magnet status and currently in the reaccreditation process for the fourth time. With the outward excellence in healthcare apparent, the organization continues to have lower than anticipated Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey scores from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). An educational needs assessment to identify current knowledge and skills will help drive the development of the most effective learning environments, whether the program is presented as a lecture, online through videos or power point presentation, simulations or a combination of modalities (Guin & Jax, 2015).

The organization’s mission includes the patient-centered care approach. The proposed curriculum will incorporate the caring, accountability and respect values through effective communication and patient advocacy through interdisciplinary patient-centered care. The main component of the proposed curriculum will deal with understanding the questions from the HCHPS survey.
