1) How have I been alienated?
I have been alienated in many ways. One can say that we are alienated the most during our childhood because we abandon ourselves to answer people and society expectations. If I take Marx’s side of alienation and apply it on me, I can definitely say that I am alienated from the process because I am studying at the university to produce something for an abstract market. I don’t know what will be my work in the future, I might have an idea about the field that I want to work in but not what company in particular or what job. The second level of alienation (alienation from the product) can also be applied on me insofar as my education does not allow me to practice medicine for instance, I am only eligible for business and administration jobs. The third level (alienation from the family and community) because I decided to pursue my education in a city far from my hometown. I have felt that I have lost touch with my parents. I am always trying to find ways to do my homework quickly and with the lowest amount of effort possible. Also, in order to achieve efficiency, I am always in the context of knowing what are the needs or wants of the person in front of me. For instance, before doing a homework, I’ll analyze the professor’s personality, know his wants and I’ll make sure that my work has everything he likes or want to have the best grade possible. My life is macdonalized also because I am always trying predict my result and adjust my actions to the results I want. These steps go along with the regular control I make to myself. I always check if my results are better or not compared to my previous scores and to the average. If there is a drop in the results, I will change my strategy to achieve
