Alien Attack! It was a typical day in Calm City, USA. A city where nothing unusual or important ever happens. Until one day, two telephone calls were made. The first call was from Andy, the local astronomer, who studied the stars because there was nothing else to do in Calm City. He called General Hardcore Hanley, “General!” he excitedly screamed. “I have just spotted bright lights dancing back and forth across the night sky,” Andy went on. “The brilliant blueish brownish lights bobbed up and down like erratic yo-yos barely touching the tops of the buildings below. So, Mayor Merkle called General Hardcore Hanley, “General, I’ve decided that we need to talk with our unexpected visitors.”
“Well… if you insist,” General Hanley hesitantly agreed.
Immediately after talking to General Hanley, the mayor made a radio announcement to the people of Calm City; “Now hear this. Now here this. We are going to have an emergency town hall meeting in one hour.” The words of the mayor quickly spread throughout the city, like a wild fire in dry weather. The town hall was filled to capacity. The people that couldn’t get in, stood outside the building listening to loudspeakers from within.
The following dialogue was overheard by thousands; “We must find out what they want,” someone shouted.
“No!” another shouted, “We must shoot them out of the sky!”
“But they might need our help getting back to their home,” another voice pleated.
“No!” a fourth person blurted out. “They’ll steal our technology.”
“But they might help us advance our technology,” suggested another citizen.
One person even suggested the townspeople could even be taken as slaves for heavy work or they could even be eaten! And so it went on for almost three hours. Back and forth arguing being helpful and friendly, or being protective and aggressive toward the
