Alice Waters

Chef Alice Waters was born on April 28, 1944, in Chatham New Jersey. In her early years she attended the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 1967 with a degree in French cultural studies. While she was attending Berkeley she made a trip to Paris, France were she broaden her tasting palate. After, when she graduated from Berkeley she started her training as a chef in Montessori school in London and learned French cooking technique. Alice waters, is very into the freshest seasonal and finest locally grown food, that’s when the start of local farmers market started to grow.

Alice Waters opened her restaurant, Chez Panisse in 1971, which is located in Berkeley, California.

Some of the books she has are, The Art of Simple Food, The Art of Simple Food II, In the Green Kitchen, Chez Panisse Cooking, and Chez Panisse Desserts, etc. Chef Alice Waters has also won many awards, some of her well known awards are; Best Restaurant in America, Gourmet magazine, 2001; Lifetime Achievement Award, Restaurant magazine’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants, 2007; the most impressive one is the National Humanities Medal, which was awarded to her by President Barack Obama this year, …show more content…
Her daily menu changing has a different selection than the previous day or even the previous week, in which she has a chance to play with her food and the customers have a chance to enjoy the different selections she has in her restaurant, allowing us to pick and choose what we would like to eat. Unlike other restaurants where they have a regular menu and cause for the customers to see the same form of menu week after week. Her cross utilization in this menu between her plates is done well because one day she is making apple and huckleberry galette for her dessert and another day she is making wild mushroom and savory galette. The prices in this menu seem to rise from the beginning of the week to the end, but I don’t think she has over priced her menu I would enjoy going in and having a good meal at Chez
