In letter two, Celie’s mother is very harsh towards Celie as she always criticizes every one of her movements even right before she is about to die. Celie is pregnant and her mother wants to know who the father is but she simply replies saying that it is God’s as she does not “know no other man or what else to say” (Walker 2). Celie gives birth to the baby and her mother wants to know where it went and she responds saying that “God took it” but in reality the father took it and got rid of the baby to hide the fact that he is molesting Celie and soon after Celie becomes pregnant again (Walker 2). In the third letter, Celie’s father begins to act like he cannot stand her no more and also accusing her of being evil and up to no good. Celie’s father took her second baby away from her, a boy this time but she does not think he killed it rather “he sold it to a man an his wife over Monticello” (Walker 3). Celie has enough strength to put up with her father but she becomes worried when she notices the way he begins to look at her little sister and just hopes that he soon finds somebody to marry so that her sister is left
