Alice the Slave of Bullying Alice was a perfect “cliché” to take all the wrath of her friends. In the book “The Truth About Alice”, the author Jennifer Mathieu describe the character Alice as a perfect victim to be bullying by others. When Alice says “I’m such a cliché, aren’t? Single mother. Absent father. Too many boyfriends, searching for love in all wrong places and blah blah blah.” (Mathieu 146) review to the readers that her low self-esteem and socioeconomic background turn her in a perfect victim of bullying and why she didn’t defend herself of been bullying. In other hand, Alice was a beautiful teenager and a popular girl on school, which her popularity caused jealousy by other students. The four characters Josh, Elaine, Brandon, and Kelsie that starting bullying Alice exemplify how an individual become a bully because their underlying …show more content…
Earlier in the story, Kelsie was Alice best friend. However, Kelsie was so jealous of Alice that she wrote on the stall horrible lies about Alice to gain her popularity by other girls. The character of Kelsie shows a girl that struggles to be Christian or an adventures girl which everything she can experienced without moral thoughts. Kelsie was so jealous of Alice free life that she lost virginity with Tommy to prove that she was better than Alice. Second, Kelsie was bitter because her mother manipulated her to have an abortion that she accused and spread lies of Alice having abortion. Also, Kelsie was so furious against Alice because she just slept one time with Tommy and got pregnant, but Alice slept with many boys and didn’t get in trouble like her. Kelsie anger and revenge against Alice shows that Kelsie decided punish Alice because it is not fair she just commit one sin and Alice was a big sinner that deserved a punishment.
