Books tell different stories and those stories become apart of our own life story. We as human beings read books more than once in our lifetime, whether we like it or not. Some books we like better than others and some books we remember more than others. If the world became a place where TVs completely replaced books and books were burned, similar to the dystopian setting in Fahrenheit 451, our own life stories and personalities would change. If there was a mass book burning and I was able to save just one book, I would save Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland because of the child-like wonder displayed with the plot, setting and imagery used.

The sister watches Alice run around in joy and thinks of “… how she would feel with all their simple sorrows, and find a pleasure in all their simple joys, remembering her own child-life, and the happy summer days.” This quote is very significant because it connect to the theme of how a child’s imagination brings joy in life. As a child, we believe in everything from Santa Claus to a monster hiding under the bed, It may seem silly to think that we, as mature humans, ever though of something unrealistic like that. However, I know, from my personal experience, that as we get older, we get hit with reality and realize not everything is fair or you do not get everything you want. In a way, society crushes our childhood beliefs and dreams and makes this reality boring and dull. I believe that there is some good in everyone and that any dream is not too big to happen no matter what race, gender, ethnicity, or age. I also believe that unicorns exist and I can be a princess one day. A lot of people always tell me I am just being silly and need to grow up. But if I “grow up”, my child-thinking could disappear like the sun disappear when there is a storm on its way. My child-thinking is what inspires me and allows me to be creative in whatever I do.
