In what were thought to be the last years of his life Staley became more and more reclusive and was seen less and less and his drug addiction worsened. He cut himself off completely from his friends and family. Leading up to his death he had apparently lost most of his teeth, his skin was pale and sickly, and he was severely emaciated. Staley’s body was discovered in his Seattle home after his former manager told his mother that no money had been withdrawn from his account for two weeks.
