In a guided self-assessment of study habits and strategies, ED 3100 students have been challenged to embark on a journey of self-exploration in an effort to better understand our own learning processes, as well as determine how different methods of studying and learning may affect our overall success. Dr. Demars (2015) explains that exploration and knowledge of our own techniques and learning strategies will then empower us, as future educators, to facilitate the same attributes in our students. She emphasizes that the better we (as teachers) understand our own learning processes, the better we can understand those of our students, and consequently help them self-assess to achieve a better understanding of their own learning. Although this exploration has raised many questions for me, there were key themes that stood out amongst others. By constructing an unbiased system of measurement, I am experimenting with deliberate and strategic changes to my study habits that are explicitly designed to address and correct weaknesses in my current study habits that I will track over a period of four weeks.…
In this essay it will explain about the similarities and differences between two units of Algebra 1, Unit 2 and Unit 4. Between Unit 2 and Unit 4 there are many similarities and differences in their lessons. In Unit 2 its lessons were based off of equalities, or equations, and in Unit 4 it is based off of inequalities. There are three main related lessons between these two units and they are, one-step equations to solving inequalities with addition and subtraction, multi-step equations to solving multi-step inequalities, and solving equations involving absolute value to inequalities involving absolute value. Finally, in this essay it will explain how these lessons are similar and different.…
Teaching third graders algebra is utterly ridiculous when the teachers are not even allowed to teach and get students to master basics in math and reading. The teachers are given rules on what they must teach and that list is so long that the teachers are not allowed to spend enough time on basics to build a more solid foundation to build on. When as an adult does the average person use algebra? However, everyone uses simple math every single day in paying bills, figuring how much money you have, or how much time until you have to be somewhere. All those things…
Molly has already turned in Lesson 1-10. The next test will be over adding and subtracting whole numbers and numbers with decimals. The test is planned for Friday. We will be working on a review tomorrow, and she can bring it home to study for the test. Molly is a great student who works very hard.…
Problem I wonder if there is a relationship between the height of saplings and the diameter at the base of the sapling, based on the data sampled from the alluvial and marine terraces at Waitutu Forest, New Zealand from 2001-2008. My explanatory variable will be the base diameter, and the response variable will be the height of the sapling. Plan I will use NZGrapher to input the data and then create a scatter graph to display the data.…

Mrs. Arquette’s AP Calculus AB class is an advance study within the magnet program of Academy of Math, Science, and Applied Technology (A.M.S.A.T.) at Clark High School, so the classroom expectations are high. Not only does this class have the difficulty level of a college course, it also prepares the students to take the AP Calculus AB Test which can arguably be more challenging than anything the college professor can come up with themselves. There is no time for disorganization and disarray in this class, and the classroom environment reflects this. Despite the classroom filled with approximately 40 students, the room is quiet when need be and the students are absorbed in the lesson being taught. While the school and classroom rules are…
It was quite hard and also very long considering its a short term semester. I had always taken classes in person at IVC, so the first day of this course, I felt like the first day of class for a three-year-old girl, I had no idea what the subject was really about. And reading the class objectives about being able to identify those pictures. I had never been able to do so, only in this one Art 100 course. My favorite so far was Art in Egypt and the Middle East, Classical Art in Antiquity, and Classical Culture, were really beautiful subjects.…

When I was younger I used to get anxious just hearing the word “test.” From a young age, I struggled with test taking and performing well on them. I have always been a good student, but when it comes to test, I struggle tremendously. I started noticing this trend when I entered middle school. I took more tests, had a lot more homework, and the material was more challenging.…
Having lower academic standards would just be too easy for some people. Lastly, Algebra is a requirement for all college-level mathematics courses, such as pre-calculus, calculus, linear algebra, statistics and probability, and more advanced mathematics courses. Algebra was taught in middle school so by the time you have already learned algebra I. Now I know people don't like math, and I get that. But if you payed attention in middle school you'd get the hang of it.…

Math and science is important for all ages, however, it is the foundation in the early stages of childhood that builds skills in other areas. Philosophically, math and science is defined differently. One studies patterns, while the other studies nature. Although they have differences, both subjects are the most closest to each other. In education they are connected and should be integrated with each other and other subjects.…
